Prime Minister and leader of New Democracy, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, visited the island of Lesvos on Friday.
“I have fulfilled my promise, overcome obstacles, implemented a strict but fair policy, and protected our borders on land and sea. This proves that the sea also has borders and we are capable of guarding them. During the years of New Democracy governance, only 10,000 people crossed the island compared to 600,000 people during the SYRIZA government,” Mitsotakis stated. He emphasized that throughout these years, “we have resolved outstanding issues, addressed problems, and provided support to local communities.”
In response, Mitarachi warmly welcomed the prime minister to “an improved Lesvos.” As the Minister of Migration and Asylum, he emphasized their commitment to substantially reducing the influx of migrants and mitigating the impact of the crisis on local communities. They have achieved this through a well-planned and determined approach.”
